About this Website
"How long have you been drawing?" I am frequently asked. As a young child of two or three, I was given my first box of crayons, and then it was off to the races! While most children go through phases of wanting to be a doctor, police officer, firefighter, scientist, dinosaur, astronaut, or any number of professions, I have always known in my heart that I wanted to be an artist. I have also never been good at following the expected path or fitting into pre-fabricated boxes. Highly motivated, but having never received any formal education past high school, I am primarily self-taught and ever-learning. When I purchased my first Internet-accessible computer in 1997 with money made at a part-time job, I immediately began creating websites to share my artwork and other creative projects. By 2001, I had begun selling my work online.
As a studio artist, my preferred media are acrylic paint, watercolour, coloured pencil, India ink, and technical pen. I also create digitally with a Wacom Cintiq touch tablet, blending and interchanging all of these tools as needed to acheive my desired end. My influences and inspirations stretch throughout all of art history, to the crumpled and disappearing newspaper funny page, to wildflowers growing along a sidewalk. While many may consider me a comic artist first, I prefer to defy labels, blending my painting, drawings, comics, and photography together, incorporating video, and the interactive nature of the Internet itself to communicate my ideas and vision. At live events such as conventions, I love to include music and dancing in my performance, inviting my audience to have fun and fearlessly be themselves without shame.
